Care for a Little Murder with that Croissant? Jules Hooker is doing her best to adjust to the new normal of a world without electricity, electronics, cars or the chance to return home. Stranded in the charming but provincial village of Chabanel wasn't terrible until Jules discovers Aix-en-Provence and decides that the big city lights--even when they've gone out in the apocalypse--are much preferable to the countryside. Of course with a big city comes big city crimes and when a fellow American is accused of murdering a popular pastry chef in Aix, Jules knows she has to help. Unfortunately tracking a dangerous killer when you don't know the language--or the French people themselves--soon has Jules bumbling into one dangerous situation after another. All the wonderful pastries aside, will this be lights out for Jules too?
Crime and Croissants Stranded in Provence Volume 2 Susan KiernanLewis Books
There is a lot to like about this series. For a start the concept of cozy mysteries against the background of the lack of all technology due to an EMP wave from a dirty bomb over the Mediterranean.
I liked the lack of graphic violence, and the main character's humour.
I liked the budding romance.
Now I admit (as someone that has lived in France) that there poetic licence taken, and a little tendency to note discrepinocancies and then shrug them off.
However, the series has charm. She always gets her perpetrator, and they usually are killing her when she is rescued just in time. But there are enough fresh angles that one wants to see what happen next. I do hope Susan Kiernan-Lewis decides to write another in this series as I admit, I would like to see Jules marry her man!

Crime and Croissants Stranded in Provence Volume 2 Susan KiernanLewis Books Reviews
I loved this book. I have read all of the Stranded books and have loved them all. Jules is fun loving and a very good detective.
Loved the moxie of the characters -- loved the ability to enjoy the food no matter what -- and, a very thought-provoking idea -- what would we do in the same circumstances.
Enjoyable book mystery I liked it I did not solve the murder which is a good thing because it kept you wondering who did ut
A light-weight mystery lacking the rich story development of her Maggie Newberry series. It is simple and a quick read.
It's a good choice for younger readers.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this series! This second book was just as intriguing as the first. As usual, Susan knows how to hold the readers interest from the beginning to the very end. Try it.
I'm so enjoying this new series and am looking forward to many more as it develops...Ms Kiernan-Lewis has lots of stories up her sleeve, thank heavens.
Susan Kiernan Lewis is an author that I just love. Don't pass her books by, because I hope you will be as enthralled as I have been. I started with her Irish books, waiting for book 10, but started on the France series, and although not quite as dramatic as the Irish series, it is interesting great characters and a lot of fun seeing France in a dfiferent way. Don't miss.
